Seiko Releases A Positively Leafy New Australian-Only Timepiece

One of the main drawbacks to living in Australia is knowing all the latest watches, fashion, and tech releases will take around half a year to arrive down under. If we get them at all. So, it’s pretty exciting when we get a creation made just for us. Renowned Japanese watch manufacturer Seiko has released not one, but two new timepieces exclusive to the Australasian market.

A homage to the land down under, both new watch releases are unabashedly Australian-themed. Both the new Seiko ‘Eucalyptus’ SRPJ53K and Seiko ‘Noosa’ SPB347J sit within the Prospex range, Seiko’s dive watch line.

The Seiko ‘Eucalyptus’ SRPJ53K evokes its namesake not just in colour, but in the slight sheen on the dial. A subtle sunburst gradient effect of earthy green and solver tones reflects the colour palette of the Australian bushland, with the yellow seconds hand mimicking the veining found on eucalyptus leaves. Featuring the distinctive Seiko ‘Turtle’ case, it measures 45mm. However, due to the signature rounded lugs, it sits smaller on the wrist than expected. Water resistant to 200m, the Seiko ‘Eucalyptus’ SRPJ53K is powered by an automatic calibre 4R36 which contains 41 hours of power reserve.

Meanwhile, the Seiko ‘Noosa’ SPB347J evokes the waves of one of Australia’s most enviable beachside locations. A top-to-bottom gradient dial recalls the graceful motion of the Noosa waters, while bright yellow minute and seconds hands represent the setting sun. Like the Eucalyptus variation, the Seiko ‘Noosa’ SPB347J is water resistant to 200m. Powered by an automatic calibre 6R35 movement, it boasts 72 hours of power reserve.

Both watches are available in a limited run of 1000 pieces each. The Seiko ‘Eucalyptus’ SRPJ53K  is priced at $895AUD, while the Seiko ‘Noosa’ SPB347J is $1500AUD. Both watches are available from September onwards via the Seiko webstore and in through selected physical stores.
