This Multifaceted Italian Restaurant In Sydney Exudes Old-world Opulence & Grandeur

Set within the heritage building that was once home to Australia’s first Savings Bank sits SETA Sydney. Paying homage to the abundant aromas and flavours of Italy, the recently hatted SETA looks to revive Sydney’s CBD dining scene through a combination of culinary innovation, gracious hospitality, and architectural grandeur and design.

Indeed it more than delivers on the latter, with SETA emanating old-world elegance and refined opulence, hinting at a renewal of Sydney’s once grand dining scene. The brainchild of Wildfire and Auckland’s Cin Cin on Quay’s founder Tonči Farac who drew upon his heritage to devise the design concept for SETA, the interiors are courtesy of Sydney-based Dreamtime Australia designer Michael McCann (Felix, Mr Wong, Victor Churchill).

A combination of imported, custom hand cut marble mosaic floors and timeless timber panelling and bespoke furniture blend together seamlessly, transforming the sandstone features of the former Savings Bank into the ideal locale for a sophisticated dining experience. The multimillion dollar fit out sees the addition of Il Bacaro, a stylish cocktail bar; Seta Cru, a marble crudo bar playing host to a selection of fine Australian seafood; a private dining room seating up to 18 guests; and at the heart of the kitchen, the SETA Chef’s Table, where diners can experience a 12-course culinary journey with executive chef Giovanni Astolfoni.

“We wanted to create a warm and inviting, la dolce vita experience which honours the culture and elegance of Venice,” said Farac of the design concept behind SETA. “SETA (meaning silk in Italian) has been designed to embrace the comfort and traditions of Italy along with contemporary, timeless features to create a place for our guests to unwind, relax and reminisce in beautiful surroundings, celebrating the old and new of Sydney.”
